Tuina, Shiatsu Massage & Reflexology

Tuina & Shiatsu Massage

Integrating Tuina and Shiatsu in a massage session offers a holistic approach that addresses both the physical and energetic aspects of the body. This combination leverages the strengths of each modality to provide enhanced pain relief, improved circulation, and deep relaxation, leading to a more effective and comprehensive therapeutic experience.

Tuina is a form of Chinese therapeutic massage that involves a wide range of techniques, including kneading, rolling, pressing, and stretching. It is deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and works on the body’s meridians and acupressure points to balance the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood. Tuina is particularly effective in treating musculoskeletal issues, reducing pain, and improving circulation.

Shiatsu, on the other hand, is a Japanese massage technique that also emphasizes pressure on specific points of the body, known as acupoints, similar to acupressure. Shiatsu, which means “finger pressure,” typically involves rhythmic sequences of finger and palm pressure along the body’s meridians. It aims to restore energy balance and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Reflexology

Each group of cells in the foot functions it connects to a human organ. Reflexology treats the whole person by treating the whole foot.

Reflexology is based on the ancient Chinese belief in qi (current energy that makes our body move)or ‘vital energy’. According to this belief, qi flows through each person. When a person feels stressed, the qi stops flowing   and therefore the body becomes stagnant. If this blockage is not treated , it can lead to imbalance and subsequent illness.

Reflexology aims to keep qi flowing through the body, maintaining balance and keeping it free from diseases.

In Chinese medicine, different body parts correspond to different pressure points on the body. Reflexologists use maps to determine where they should apply pressure to work on these points.

The touch sends energy flowing through a person’s body until it reaches the area in need of healing.

Through reflexology touch may help to calm the central nervous system, promoting relaxation and bringing other benefits just like any form of massage.
