A Message For You & Your Skin
I wanted to share something with you that has been a complete game changer in the way I support skin concerns at Luminate.
Recently I’ve been studying circadian biology and I can honestly say it has changed how I view skin health.
It’s helped me understand why so many people struggle with issues like inflammation, pigmentation, dullness, breakouts, sensitivity and slow healing even when they are using good products and having treatments.
The truth is your skin can only repair and function properly when your circadian rhythm is working with you.
This rhythm is your body’s natural 24 hour cycle and it controls everything from hormone balance to energy to how your skin protects, repairs and regenerates.
During the day your skin focuses on protecting you from light, stress, pollution and heat.
At night it switches into deep repair mode.
This is when collagen is produced, cell turnover speeds up and the micro damage from the day is repaired.
When this rhythm becomes disrupted which is very common with artificial lighting, screen time, irregular sleep, stress and hardly going outside your skin simply cannot perform the way it is meant to.
You might feel like you’re doing everything right but the results don’t seem to match the effort.
This is usually why.
I am having to unlearn much of what I was taught in my beauty career because this deeper biological layer matters so much more than we realised.
My intuition always tells me when something aligns and this does.
It explains so many skin concerns I see every day.
Why this matters for you
If your circadian rhythm is out of sync your skin will also be out of sync.
✓ It will become more reactive and inflamed.
✓ It will heal more slowly.
✓ It will struggle to renew itself at night.
✓ It will age faster.
✓ It will hold onto pigmentation.
✓ Its barrier will weaken which makes everything feel more sensitive.
This is why supporting your circadian rhythm is the first thing I now look at before going deeper into products or treatment plans.
It creates the foundation your skin needs to actually respond.
Simple steps that make a huge difference
Try to get natural morning light for a few minutes.
It resets your entire system and helps your skin switch into its correct daytime rhythm.
Use red and near infrared light therapy where possible.
It is incredible for helping the skin repair and for calming inflammation.
Try to keep your sleep and wake times reasonably consistent.
Your skin follows these signals more than you might imagine.
Dim lights in the evening and reduce screen brightness.
This helps your body understand it is time to prepare for night-time repair.
Support your skin from within with antioxidants, collagen, omega 3s and nutrients that help your cells heal while you sleep.
And be kind to your nervous system.
Stress disrupts your circadian rhythm faster than anything else.
What I want you to know
Great skin is not just about what you put on it.
It’s about the internal rhythm that governs how your skin behaves.
When this is aligned everything becomes easier.
Your skin becomes stronger, brighter, calmer and more resilient because it finally has the environment it needs to function properly.
This is the foundation I now work from with every client.
Once this is supported your products and treatments will work far more effectively and your results will be deeper and longer lasting.
